Supported Public Certificate Authorities

DigiCert Integration

CertiNext supports integration with leading publicly trusted Certificate Authorities (CAs) to help customers centrally manage certificate renewals while continuing to use their existing CA relationships. DigiCert is one of the supported public CAs and can be connected to CertiNext through a secure API-based connector.

This integration is designed to complement, not replace, the customer’s direct relationship with DigiCert.

Prerequisite: Independent DigiCert Account

To use DigiCert with CertiNext, customers must have an independent DigiCert account. All commercial, contractual, and compliance-related aspects of certificate issuance remain managed directly with DigiCert, including:

  • Billing and invoicing

  • Account balance or subscription management

  • Organization and domain verification records

  • Contractual terms and CA-specific policies

CertiNext does not act as a reseller or billing intermediary for DigiCert certificates.

Scope of the DigiCert Integration in CertiNext

CertiNext connects to DigiCert specifically for certificate lifecycle continuity, with a focus on renewal and operational visibility.

Key characteristics of the integration include:

  • Renewal-focused integration CertiNext connects to DigiCert to renew existing certificates that were originally issued under the customer’s DigiCert account. Initial issuance and account-level management continue to be handled directly in DigiCert.

  • No impact on DigiCert account ownership Certificates remain owned by the customer’s DigiCert account. CertiNext does not take custody of the CA account or alter DigiCert-side configurations.

  • Centralized lifecycle management Once connected, CertiNext tracks certificate expiry, renewal windows, and lifecycle status, reducing the risk of outages due to missed renewals.

Domain Control Validation (DCV) Handling

As part of the renewal workflow, CertiNext performs Domain Control Validation (DCV) on behalf of the customer, where applicable and supported.

This means:

  • CertiNext initiates and manages DCV challenges required for renewal

  • Supported DCV methods are executed through automated workflows

  • Customers do not need to manually repeat validation steps for each renewal cycle

By automating DCV, CertiNext simplifies renewal operations while staying aligned with CA and browser requirements.

Connector Configuration Overview

To enable the DigiCert connector, administrators configure:

  • DigiCert API base URL and API key

  • Organization, container, and platform identifiers

  • Certificate validity and payment preferences

These details allow CertiNext to authenticate securely with DigiCert and execute renewal workflows in line with the customer’s DigiCert account configuration.

When to Use the DigiCert Connector

The DigiCert connector is ideal for organizations that:

  • Already use DigiCert as a public CA

  • Want centralized visibility and renewal automation across multiple CAs

  • Need to reduce manual tracking and renewal risk

  • Prefer to keep billing, verification, and contractual relationships directly with DigiCert

Summary

CertiNext’s DigiCert integration enables secure, renewal-focused certificate lifecycle management without disrupting existing CA relationships. Customers retain full control over their DigiCert account, while CertiNext adds operational automation, DCV handling, and centralized oversight—helping ensure certificates are renewed on time and remain compliant with public trust requirements.
