Reports and Exports

The Reports and Exports module in CERTInext provides structured visibility into certificate operations, user activity, and system behavior. It is primarily used by security, operations, and compliance teams to review activity, investigate issues, and generate audit-ready evidence.

Reports are accessible from Reports in the left navigation menu and are updated in near real time.

Audit Logs

The Audit Logs report provides a chronological, immutable record of all activities performed within the CERTInext platform. This includes user actions, API activity, certificate lifecycle events, and system-level changes.

What Is Captured in Audit Logs

Each audit log entry records:

  • User Full Name The user or service account that performed the action.

  • Module The functional area where the action occurred (for example, Certificates, REST APIs, Authentication).

  • Activity / Event Name Description of the action, such as login events, API key generation, certificate requests, or system updates.

  • Timestamp Date and time when the action occurred.

  • Status Outcome of the action (for example, Success or Failure).

This allows teams to trace who did what, when, and where.

Using Audit Logs to Identify Issues

Audit Logs are commonly used to:

  • Investigate unauthorized or unexpected actions

  • Trace certificate issuance, revocation, or deletion events

  • Review authentication and access attempts

  • Validate API token usage and automation behavior

  • Support forensic analysis during incidents

Filters can be applied to narrow results by user, module, activity type, or time range.

Exporting Audit Logs

Audit Logs can be exported using Export to Excel, enabling:

  • Offline review and archival

  • Sharing with auditors or compliance teams

  • Integration with SIEM or internal reporting tools

Exports preserve the filtered view, providing a point-in-time snapshot for audit evidence.

Overall Statistics

The Overall Statistics report provides a high-level summary of certificate and key management activity across the account. It is designed for quick assessment of platform usage and certificate lifecycle status.

Statistics Covered

The report aggregates metrics across multiple categories, including:

Certificate Metrics

  • Discovered certificates

  • Configured and non-configured certificates

  • Issued, deployed, revoked, rotated, and retired certificates

  • Vulnerable certificates

Endpoint and Discovery Metrics

  • Scanned endpoints

  • Protected and unprotected endpoints

Key Management Metrics

  • Total number of keys

  • Symmetric and asymmetric key counts

  • Key usage and rotation statistics

Templates and Profiles

  • CSR templates

  • Provisioning templates

  • Key profiles

  • Email templates

These metrics help teams understand both scale and operational maturity.

Using Overall Statistics for Monitoring

Overall Statistics are commonly used to:

  • Track growth of certificate usage over time

  • Identify gaps between discovered and configured certificates

  • Monitor deployment and rotation effectiveness

  • Support management reporting and internal reviews

This report is especially useful for periodic reviews and executive summaries.

Exporting Overall Statistics

The Export to Excel option allows users to:

  • Capture a snapshot of organizational certificate posture

  • Perform trend analysis outside the platform

  • Share summarized metrics with stakeholders

Exports provide a consistent and auditable record of platform activity.
